Who We Are

BACKGROUND

Insiza Godlwayo AIDS Council (IGAC) is an AIDS service organisation formed in 1994 and registered as PVO in 1997; PVO 8/97. The organization was formed to empower communities to deal with the adverse impact of HIV and AIDS as well as to halt the spread of the HIV. The organisation also strives to promote HIV prevention and Management efforts. IGAC covers Insiza
and Gwanda Districts. The organisation was formed by the community of Insiza after extensive
sensitisation by the Ministry of Health together with Matabeleland AIDS Council (MAC) which used
to operate from Bulawayo. At its inception, the organisation covered only three wards; namely
wards, 4, 8 and 9 but later spread to all the 23 wards of Insiza due to services demand.

Our Mission

We seek to reduce the HIV incidence rate and to mitigate the effects of AIDS in Zimbabwe.

Our Vision

IGAC’s vision is an HIV and AIDS free society enjoying a high quality of life.

Goal

To support community initiatives in the fight against and mitigating the effects of HIV and AIDS in Zimbabwe
